The story

From frustrated first-time author to building a better path for other writers

Bo Bennett, PhD, wrote his first book, Year to Success, in 2002 and published it in 2004. That experience opened his eyes to what a chaotic, expensive mess the publishing industry could be for new authors. Like many first-time writers, he spent far too much money on services that produced very few sales.

He knew there had to be a better way.

Around 2010, Bo began hearing about this new thing called ebooks. He dug in, did the research, and discovered that the process was still painfully difficult for ordinary authors. When he tried creating his first ebook himself, it took him roughly 25 hours — and the result was still a mess.

That was the turning point. He realized he could not possibly be the only author going through this.

So he refined the process, and in 2011 he launched ebookit.com with a simple goal: help authors create ebooks and get them published without the confusion, wasted time, and unnecessary expense.

Very quickly, it became obvious that authors did not just want ebooks. They wanted paperback books. They wanted audiobooks. They wanted marketing help. They wanted someone who understood the whole journey, not just one slice of it.

Over the years, Bo kept expanding the services. The problem was that the ebookit.com name no longer fit. People assumed it was only about ebooks, when in reality the business had grown into something much broader.

Then, in 2020, Bo leaned harder into promotion and moved everything to BookMarketing.pro. That solved one naming problem, but created another: now the brand sounded focused on marketing even though the company was still deeply involved in book creation, publishing, distribution, and author support.

Finally, in 2026, he secured the domain name he had wanted for a long time: SelfPublishing.pro.

The name says exactly what the business is about and what it has really been about since 2011: helping authors and small presses create, publish, and market their books.

Why this site exists

A simpler, smarter publishing experience

As technology improved and websites became easier to use, many of the services SelfPublishing.pro had long provided behind the scenes could finally be offered directly to authors.

That is a good thing.

Today, SelfPublishing.pro uses the latest AI tools, publishing workflows, and real-world experience to help authors get outstanding results for a fraction of what many people have historically paid.

And for authors who still want guidance, reassurance, or a more hands-on experience, the company still offers the kind of full-service support and handholding it has been known for since 2011.

Looking ahead

The future of book publishing is exciting.

Bo is proud to be part of that future — and proud to help authors pursue the goal of becoming successful self-published writers. SelfPublishing.pro is built for people who want better tools, better guidance, and a better chance of doing this right.
